The all-volunteer board will stay in office for staggered terms of one to three years or until the situation requires change, whichever comes first. GLS welcomes new members from the community who wish to support the school with their leadership talents & expertise. 

President Heiko Roessle

Heiko Roessle is a Finance Director for Deutsche Bank. He relocated to the U.S. in 1998. Heiko has the equivalent of an MBA from the University of Hohenheim, Germany. He has a daughter and elementary school twins who attended the school.

Treasurer Michael Kohlhaas

A corporate development leader for Con Edison, Michael brings a decade of financial acumen to the Board.

A native of Germany, Michael has enrolled his two young children at the German Language School. Michael is also an active congregant and sits on the governing board for the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Holmdel.

Secretary Kelly Atanacio 

A Middletown native, Kelly is an alumna of Widener University and Monmouth University. She has worked for Sony Music, Concerts East and Funk & Standard. She is a board member for The Rumson Country Day School Executive Parent Council and The Atlantic Fencing Academy Foundation. Two of her three children attended the school.

 
 

Managing Director Dorothea Drew, Principal Princeton

Dorothea Drew studied business and economics at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. After moving to the U. S. in 1998 she worked as auditor (operations/IT) for Barclays Capital and Goldman Sachs in New York. Dorothea has two children who attended the school.

Board Liaison Karin Mayer Roessle
Principal, Holmdel

Karin Mayer Roessle, a native of Germany, has been teaching children and teenagers for two decades, following a career in translation in New York City.

Karin teaches a variety of classes, focusing on teenagers who are preparing for the German Language Diploma exams, as well as adults in her conversational classes. Her daughter is a graduate of the school, currently studying at a German university and her twin teenagers attend the school.

Board Liaison Michaela Greco,
Curriculum Director, Holmdel

Michaela Greco, a native of Germany, has been teaching children and teenagers for over 30 years. She is a New Jersey certified teacher and has the German equivalent of a Masters degree in Business Administration, specializing in Human Resources and Marketing from the University of Applied Sciences, Frankfurt, Germany. She is the mother of two grown sons, who attended the school for several years.
